Drain Cleaning in Toronto for Dishwasher Problems

Within the home different things can leak, one of these being the dishwasher. However, another reason for drain cleaning in Toronto has to do with clogs or issues with the drainage line to include the sink drain, drain hose, and air gap. Sometimes, the filter inside a dishwasher can become clogged to the point of compromising drainage.

By using the services of a licensed plumber, the exact problem can be identified and then properly fixed. The good news is that a professional plumber understands the ins and outs of how dishwashers work and within a short amount of time can properly diagnose the problem.

Common Dishwasher Issues

Some of the more common reasons for draining cleaning in Toro nto include:

  • Hose – This tube is small and made from rubber of plastic. The hose runs from underneath the dishwasher, through the cabinets, and then connects to an air gap device that is part of the sink drain line or garbage disposal. A plumber will start by visually inspecting the drain hose, looking for kinks. If none are found, the hose will likely be replaced.
  • Air Gap – If there is an air gap on the back of the sink, the plumber will remove the cover to look for clogs. If there is a clog, the dishwasher will not drain. In addition, both ends of the drain hose will be removed to check for blockage.
  • Garbage Disposer – Another reason that draining issues with dishwashers is the garbage disposal. Usually, the culprit is the disposal being full of scraps. However, as part of drain cleaning in Toronto, the drain hose would be removed from the nipple located on the disposal to see if there are any obvious clogs. Sometimes, the dishwasher installer forgets to punch out the knockout plug located within the nipple so if this has not been done, the plumber will use a simple hammer and screwdriver to open it.

Glass Trap – Drainage issues can also be caused by a problem with the glass trap. Also referred to as a strainer screen, this is at the bottom of the tub beneath the sprayer arm. Again, a plumber will look for clogs and if needed, the screen will be replaced.
